Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy operations, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care and service. This position is essential for maintaining efficient workflows within the pharmacy, particularly in settings such as long-term care (LTC) and acute care environments.

Responsibilities

Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including IV infusions, while adhering to aseptic techniques. Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries and concerns regarding medications and health-related issues. Support medication administration processes and ensure accurate intake of patient information. Maintain inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed to ensure seamless pharmacy operations. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate optimal patient care, particularly in critical care and hospital settings. Utilize medical terminology effectively when communicating with team members and documenting patient interactions. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and best practices within the pharmacy environment.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred, including roles such as pharmacy technician or assistant. Familiarity with LTC pharmacy practices, acute care environments, and critical care experience is highly desirable. Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pharmaceuticals and patient care. Proven ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail, especially in medication preparation and administration. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, pharmacists, and healthcare staff. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to complete tasks efficiently. Knowledge of aseptic techniques is an asset for this role.
