No experience necessary as we will provide full training. The

Pharmacy Assistant

supports the pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling, administrative duties, and customer service, allowing the pharmacist more time to focus on patient care. Pharmacy Assistants are key team members in ensuring efficient pharmacy operations and delivering superior service to our patients.

Key Responsibilities



Prescription Processing & Technical Support



Receive prescriptions from patients, ensuring compliance with provincial legal and regulatory requirements. Assess prescriptions for completeness. Perform computer functions as directed by the pharmacist (data entry, price checks, patient information updates). Competently interpret and process written prescriptions, including Latin abbreviations, drug name recognition, and dosage calculations. Generate refill reports and conduct patient profile checks. Fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision: select and count/measure appropriate products, perform DIN and visual checks, prepare labels, and organize for pharmacist verification. Obtain necessary approvals for authorized verbal refills.

Inventory & Housekeeping



Assist with inventory control, ensuring appropriate stock levels of medications and supplies. Check for and pull expired medications. Stock prescription-filling supplies (vials, labels, bags, etc.). Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dispensary work environment, including equipment and common areas.

Clerical & Administrative Duties



File prescriptions, invoices, reports, and correspondence. Provide general administrative support (e.g., journals, accounts receivable, aged trial balance). Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.

Customer Service & OTC Support



Greet and assist customers in a professional and compassionate manner. Answer phones and process transactions at the till. Assist with over-the-counter (OTC) operations including ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as assigned by the OTC Manager and/or pharmacist.
