Overview

We're looking for a licensed pharmacist to provide advice and clinical expertise to our Health Benefits Unit. Our Health Benefits Unit is a team who implement entitlement decisions on health care and pharmacy services for injured workers. In this unique pharmacist role, you'll be a vital resource for internal and external stakeholders to ensure that medication therapy is appropriate and supports our pharmacy benefit program for injured workers.

At this time, this is a hybrid position where you'll work primarily at home and be on-site at our Richmond office occasionally. This is a part-time position (3 days a week).

What you'll do

As a pharmacy advisor you will:

  • Collaborate with and provide advice to internal and external stakeholders and respond to queries related to medication therapy
  • Provide educational sessions and training to internal physicians, registered nurses, and others on the use of medications, such as opioids
  • Conduct comprehensive medication and cannabis reviews to ensure clients' medication regimes are appropriate; interpret Pharmanet and Emergis reports to determine current medication uses to provide an opinion on the pertinent use of medication
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including the B.C. Pharmacist Association and the College of Pharmacists of B.C., on matters relating to WorkSafeBC medication related coverage
  • Deliver presentations on various topics, such as the Medication Review Team or pharmacy benefit management processes to a wide range of audiences

  • Communicate detailed technical information on pharmaceuticals and the appropriateness of prescriptions
  • Clearly, concisely, and respectfully present complex clinical information, verbally and in writing, to audiences with varying levels of understanding
  • Establish and maintain professional and respectful relationships with co-workers, clients, and health care providers
  • Work independently and as a member of a team in a time-sensitive, service-oriented environment
Your experience and educational background:
  • A bachelor's degree in Pharmacy with current registration as a licensed pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a licensed pharmacist working in a pharmacy
  • Experience with substance abuse in the community and/or substance abuse treatments in a hospital
  • Knowledge of pharmacy management systems, such as Telus Health Solutions
