About Affirming Care Pharmacy: Founded in 2021, Affirming Care Pharmacy is a specialty pharmacy with locations in Calgary, Alberta and Mississauga, Ontario. We have partnered with PurposeMed Inc., a telehealth organization that provides complex healthcare services in HIV prevention and mental health treatment (ADHD, anxiety and depression). Affirming Care is highly integrated with PurposeMed’s operations and offers specialized pharmacy services to our patients, providing them with an end-to-end healthcare experience, from treatment to prescription delivery to continuous affirming care.
We are patient first and building industry-leading technology to provide better end-to-end healthcare services. Affirming Care now provides patient care to individuals across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. As such, you will be responsible for assisting patients across the country, not just within your local community! Furthermore, you will be supported by a broader team of 140+ healthcare professionals and patient care team members.
About the Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated and patient-focused Pharmacist to join our incredible Affirming Care Pharmacy team in Mississauga.
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacist will be responsible for assisting day-to-day operations. This is a unique entrepreneurial opportunity to join an energetic and growing team where you will help conceptualize and improve processes to ensure we provide the most inclusive and affirming care experience to every patient.
Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient medication counselling duties and provide exceptional customer service both over the phone and in-person
  • Supervise and assist Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants ensuring the accuracy of all prescriptions dispensed and shipped as per College of Pharmacy regulations
  • Coordinate with patients to set up shipping and delivery preferences
  • Manage patients' refill cycles to make sure they do not run out of their medication
  • Help patients navigate insurance challenges
  • Oversee inventory management; perform inventory audits, manage purchasing of packaging and pharmacy supplies and coordinate medication orders with wholesalers
  • Maintain internal pharmacy databases to monitor and ensure efficient operations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Federal and Provincial laws, rules and regulations
  • Ensure all requirements for the documentation and control of substances under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Regulations are satisfied
  • Collaborate with key team members to formulate business insights and drive operational and patient care improvements

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Science or Pharm-D; licensed Pharmacist and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • 2+ years of experience as a staff Pharmacist
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy business operations and economics
  • Knowledge and efficiency of all aspects of pharmacy software (data entry, billing, report generating, troubleshooting)
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Strong sense of urgency and work with a “how can I help” mentality
  • Comfortable with change
  • High clinical confidence
  • Ability to learn and handle new software platforms
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented and able to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Active listener and strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Flexible to work different shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Fluent in English (French is an asset)
  • Energetic and motivated to grow within the Affirming Care Pharmacy organization

Required Availability: Flexible, including weekends and holidays. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity, at 40 hours per week. Affirming Care Pharmacy is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 8 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
