May 16, 2024PHARMACIST (BAND LEVEL 9)School of Pharmacy(One Year Contractual Position)The University will consider applications from qualified permanent staff who may be interested in a secondment, subject to departmental approvalDUTIESReporting to the Special Advisor, Practice Innovation, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the three main functions of the MTS Clinic: providing care to patients; teaching and mentoring student and pharmacist learners; and participating in and supporting research projects through the Clinic. Duties include providing comprehensive medication therapy assessments to patients and model the process to student learners; developing effective relationships with other health care professionals; providing a positive environment for patients and learners; coordinating experiential learning experiences for student rotations at and affiliated with the Clinic; supervising and evaluating student performance on experiential placements; providing mentorship and support to pharmacists completing clinical skills development experiences; providing instruction to students in areas related to the Clinic practice, skills and knowledge; supporting the development and growth of patient referrals and Clinic programs/services; participating in Clinic projects, evaluation, and research studies by contributing to data collection, development of clinical tools and other related activities; and performing other related duties as required.QUALIFICATIONSExperience (3-5 years) in practicing pharmacy in an innovative, interprofessional and/or collaborative setting; completion of a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. The successful candidate will be a Pharmacist who is licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board and has the authorization (or be eligible to be authorized) to administer injections and pharmacist prescribing. A minimum of 2 years\' experience teaching or acting as a preceptor to pharmacy students is required; or any equivalent combinations of experience and training may be considered. The successful applicant will have superior interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication ability. Enthusiasm for clinical teaching, and experience in providing constructive feedback to students is required. Experience or a high level of comfort in providing comprehensive medication therapy assessments, including motivational interviewing, identifying and prioritizing drug-related problems, problem-solving and critical thinking ability, developing and documenting drug therapy plans, and implementing patient follow up plans is necessary. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic environment where innovation and creativity is encouraged. Experience and/or interest in pharmacy practice research is desirable.
