2025-2026 PSW Program (Night School)

Open To:

Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) and/or Ontario Registered Nurse

Location:

Collingwood / Penetanguishene, Living Classroom, and Virtual Remote Learning

Position Type/Hours:

PSW Program Teacher/Instructor

The program includes three 110-hour PSW-specific courses, delivered through a combination of remote (virtual) and in-person classes, along with placement support components (3 credits).

These components involve collaboration with SHSM Coop, SHSM Leads, and Secondary Coop teachers.

Course availability will depend on student enrollment.

PSW Program will run: September to 16th, 2025 June 25, 2026

The final schedule will be developed with the Continuing Education Department

Annual Compensation:

$46.39/Hour, before deductions, for a 660 hour program

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Duties include teaching healthcare and medical technologies curriculum for the PSW certification program. The PSW Instructor's primary role is to deliver high-quality virtual and in-person instruction using the approved curriculum and to supervise students during clinical placements. Responsibilities also include assessing module materials, recording attendance and grades, and completing report cards. The instructor must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse needs of both students and the clients they will work with during clinical placements. They will collaborate with Secondary School Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) leads, Cooperative Education Departments, and the SHSM High School Coop team. Additionally, they will oversee the attainment of diploma requirements for adult learners enrolled in this joint academic/certificate program.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experiences to the role:

Preferred OCT qualified (with I/S qualifications in Health Care Services an asset) Mandatory Ontario College of Nurses Registration Preference will be given to candidates with expertise and experience delivering the Ontario Long Term Care Association Personal Support Worker curriculum. Ability to work in a flexible environment Experience with online or blended learning will be an asset Willing to travel within Simcoe Muskoka to support PSW Students A criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening is a condition of employment. Proof of immunizations as per the Long Term Care Homes Act is required prior to the clinical practicums.
