Personal Injury Junior Legal Assistant (Permanent, Full-time)
The Personal Injury Junior Legal Assistant is responsible for the office and file administration. The duties include, but are not limited to, word processing, billing, file opening, scanning, reporting, filing, and any additional office functions and projects as assigned.*
THE OPPORTUNITY: *

  • Support Legal Assistants, Paralegals, and Lawyer in file opening, review of instructions, conducting searches, reporting and assembling documentation.
  • Onboard new clients using the client identification forms and follow up with clients for documentation.
  • Conduct cold calls and conflict searches.
  • Word process file documents, letters, etc.
  • Enter lawyer time on files and organize lawyer BF system.
  • Photocopy, scan, cover and index medical documents and expert reports.
  • Organize client files/binders for meetings, discoveries and mediations.
  • Manage electronic filing in firms document management system.
  • File and organize document files and binders.
  • File court documents online.
  • Update lists of special damages.
  • Organize in person and virtual meetings.
  • Schedule discoveries, mediations, trials and independent medical assessments.
  • Arrange client travels to medical assessments.
  • Pay invoices, and request and deposit cheques to trust.
  • Draft disbursement billing.
  • Close files.

EXPERIENCE: *
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office.
  • Strong attentions to detail and ability to work with confidential information.
  • Experience in a legal office environment is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented setting as well as independently.
  • Ability to grasp new technologies.
  • Ability to multitask and frequently organize workload.
