The Permit Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Construction team by managing the end-to-end process of building permit applications, ensuring compliance with municipal and provincial regulations, and facilitating communication between internal departments, site teams, and external agencies. This role ensures timely acquisition of permits to align with construction schedules and supports the broader goal of operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Here's how you'll contribute
Permit Management & Tracking
Prioritize, prepare, submit, and track building permit applications across various municipalities.
Maintain a detailed log of permit statuses, timelines, and associated documentation.
Coordinate with municipal departments to resolve application issues and expedite approvals.
Documentation & Compliance
Assist in the registration and issuance of Tarion enrollments, as required.
Ensure all permit-related documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with the Ontario Building Code and other applicable laws.
Maintain digital and physical records of all permit submissions and approvals.
Liaison & Coordination
Act as a liaison between the office, construction sites, and municipal authorities.
Support communication between internal departments (e.g., construction, design, warranty) and external stakeholders (e.g., engineers, city officials).
Coordinate with site teams to ensure permit timelines are understood and met.
Administrative Support
Assist with the posting of plans and permits on-site and in office systems.
Support the preparation of reports and summaries related to permit activity.
Attend construction and planning meetings to provide updates on permit status.

Strong working knowledge of the
Ontario Building Code
and municipal zoning by-laws.
Ability to read and interpret
construction plans
, site plans, and architectural drawings.
Knowledge of
Newstar
is an asset.
Ability to work in
Microsoft Excel
for tracking and reporting.
Excellent
organizational and time management
skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong
attention to detail
and accuracy in documentation.
Effective
conflict resolution
and communication skills to manage stakeholder expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
Diploma or degree in
Construction Management
,
Architectural Technology
, or equivalent demonstrated skillset.
1-3 years of experience in a similar role within the residential construction industry.
Familiarity with municipal permitting processes in Ontario.
Valid Ontario driver's license.
