WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR



At HDC, people are the heart of everything we do, and we're looking for a dynamic and versatile People & Talent Business Partner (PTBP) who shares this belief. This role goes beyond traditional HR - it's about empowering leaders, supporting teams, and fostering a culture where everyone can thrive.



Reporting to the Director of People & Talent, the PTBP serves as a strategic advisor, talent partner, and employee advocate for their assigned client group. This role is critical in executing our people strategy, and you'll collaborate across the organization to build a high-performance, inclusive workplace and lead key people initiatives that drive real business impact.



You'll be part of a small, but mighty team of 3 People (HR) professionals, working together in a supportive, fast-paced environment to deliver people-first solutions and drive business success and continuous improvement.



Location:

This is a hybrid role, with a future expectation of working in the office 3 days a week. However, to support onboarding and early learning, this role will initially require 5 days a week in the office, as most training and knowledge transfer occurs during this initial period. The office is located at 150 Dynamic Drive in Scarborough.



HIGHLIGHTS OF WHAT YOU'LL DO



As a trusted partner to people leaders, and a point of contact for assigned client group, the PTBP will be able to comfortably and independently manage the following aspects of their role:



Employee Relations

Partner with people leaders to independently provide advice, recommendations, and solutions on all day-to-day employee matters while ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, employments standards, and relevant regulations Manage sensitive workplace issues, including performance, investigations, and terminations Promote a positive and inclusive work environment by ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

Partner with hiring managers to develop and execute effective full-cycle recruitment strategies, including proactive sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding, while ensuring an exceptional candidate experience. Collaborate on employer branding and orientation initiatives, helping to build strong talent pipelines and deliver a consistent, engaging, and informative new hire experience.

Talent & Workforce Management

Promote an effective approach to performance development by providing hands-on support to people leaders throughout the performance framework including OKR-setting, timely and effective feedback delivery, and thorough unbiased evaluations Offer guidance on talent reviews and action planning to promote employee growth and accountability, including performance development and high-potential planning as needed Support learning and development efforts to build leadership and functional capabilities across teams

P&T Program Management

Support and/or lead the development, communication, and implementation of HR programs and initiatives that shape and strengthen company culture and improve the employee experience Monitor program effectiveness and continuously improve based on feedback and business needs Lead change management efforts related to people initiatives and organizational changes

Analytics & Reporting

In collaboration with the P&T team, compile, interpret, and analyze HR data (e.g., recruitment, turnover, engagement, performance metrics) to identify trends, diagnose issues, and inform strategic workforce decisions Develop dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights for business leaders, enabling data-driven decision-making across talent, performance, and organizational health. Use data-driven insights to recommend and implement process improvements, enhancing the efficiency and impact of HR programs and driving ongoing organizational effectiveness

P&T Team Back-up and Support

While we each operate with a high degree of independence, we represent One Team, collaborating closely to support all People & Talent initiatives and ensure smooth, effective operations. This includes collaborating on several initiatives, stepping beyond individual responsibilities to assist colleagues during peak workloads, and serving as a reliable backup during team member absences.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED



Education & Experience:



Completion of post-secondary education 5+ years of experience in HR and talent acquisition, preferably working independently in a high-growth or agile environment HR designation(i.e., CHRP) preferred Experience in the POP, packaging, or manufacturing industries an asset Strong knowledge of the ESA, Human Rights legislation, HR best practices, and employee lifecycle management Proven expertise in applying recruitment best practices and developing and executing sourcing strategies in order to attract top talent and build a strong talent pipeline Experience with HRIS and ATS platforms (Dayforce an asset) and sourcing platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.) Proven ability to navigate complex workplace issues, develop balanced solutions, conduct fair and compliant investigations, and leverage HR data to support informed decision-making and strategic planning

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, present effectively, and navigate sensitive matters with emotional intelligence and sound judgment Highly organized and self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities independently in fast-paced environments while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail Collaborative and solutions-focused, consistently contributing to team goals, proactively solving challenges, and demonstrating proficiency with MS Office and other tools to drive results
