Position Summary





The

People Success Partner

provides labour relations, HR consultation and support for assigned departments in the College. The role is responsible for building relationships with these departments, understanding their specific needs and assisting them in achieving their strategic business plan objectives by offering advice and consultation in the areas of performance management, disability management and accommodations, labour relations, employee relations and employee development. In addition, the People Success Partner is responsible for working collaboratively as a member of the People & Cuture team in delivering the College's objectives and strategic vision to have well qualified and engaged people.





As a People Success Partner, you'll play a key role in fostering a positive and collaborative work environment by providing expert guidance on employee and labour relations matters. You'll advise Deans, Directors, and supervisors on interpreting and applying collective agreements, employment standards, human rights legislation, and college policies to ensure consistency across all practices. Building strong, solution-focused relationships with both unionized and non-unionized employees will be essential, reflecting the college's commitment to a positive and interest-based approach to labour relations.





You'll support management through grievance preparation, performance management discussions, and workplace investigations, offering recommendations that balance legal compliance with fairness. Additionally, you'll work closely with supervisors and a junior business partner on disability management claims, ensuring employees receive appropriate care and support. Your role will also involve advising on legal requirements, mediating workplace conflicts, and guiding leaders through formal performance discussions, including suspensions or terminations when necessary.





Beyond employee relations, you'll help drive employee engagement and retention by developing and delivering training programs, coordinating employee-related initiatives, and supporting organizational effectiveness. Using insights from employee engagement surveys and exit interviews, you'll help shape policies and practices that enhance the work experience. You'll also collaborate with other People & Culture teams to ensure alignment across processes and projects, provide guidance during times of change, and contribute to the development of performance management tools and resources.





Your expertise will also be called upon during collective bargaining and other strategic HR initiatives, ensuring the college continues to foster a supportive and high-performing workplace.




Qualifications



The ideal candidate will have a certificate in Human Resources or Industrial/Labour Relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. They should bring 3-5 years of experience in labour relations, with a strong background in interpreting, applying, and administering collective agreements, along with generalist HR experience. A post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or Industrial Relations is preferred, and a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation would be an asset.



Experience within a post-secondary environment is beneficial, along with strong collaboration skills, reliability, and a willingness to contribute to various tasks as needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and HRIMS is important, as is the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. A solid understanding of labour legislation, privacy laws, is key, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure. Success in this role requires diplomacy, tact, and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships across the College.



If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire.

This opening is a temporary (Exempt) position with an anticipated duration of approximately 2 years..
