Overview

We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for an experienced People & Labour Relations Coordinator to assist and support our Director of Labour Relations and Analytics at WorkSafeBC in our Richmond head office. The Labour Relations and Analytics division supports the effective implementation of WorkSafeBC and divisional strategies, business plans, and policies and the delivery of client-focused service. This is a temporary 12 months opportunity.

If you are a resourceful and self-motivated administrative coordinator with the power to initiate plans, act on your decisions, and independently follow through to completion, we want to hear from you. In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll use a high level of discretion and tact in handling confidential and sensitive information related to labour relations and analytics. If you have administrative experience supporting senior management level operations, proficiency in Microsoft applications, exceptional customer service, effective organizational skills, and can execute a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, this role is for you!

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and be on-site at a minimum of once per quarter in our Richmond office or based on operational needs.

What you\'ll do

  • Support the director and department by providing administrative support in the processing of grievances, arbitrations, and Labour Relations Board hearings
  • Record, organize and prepare a variety of confidential correspondence including e-newsletter, PowerPoint presentations, minutes, memos, forms, reports, and manuals from both verbal and printed sources
  • Manage appointments, departmental meetings, agendas, and make travel and accommodation arrangements upon request
  • Establish, maintain, and update files and records on comprehensive tracking systems including PeopleSoft Grievance Tracking System, various Labour Relation teamsites on Sharepoint, and LAN
  • Receive, screen, and refer incoming calls from internal and external sources. Answer routine inquiries with respect to department activities
  • Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals

  • Organize and coordinate agendas for meetings and events
  • Be adaptive and take initiative as appropriate
  • Use discretion, handle confidential and sensitive information, and resolve conflicts
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes; recommend solutions and refer issues as appropriate
Your background and experience
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or Business Administration is preferred
  • A minimum of three years of related work experience in an administrative role supporting senior management and/or Director level operations
  • Experience working in labour relations or in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
