What We Seek




As a critical member of our People Team, the People & Culture Specialist plays a pivotal role in implementing and managing human resources programs that support our organizational objectives. In this role, you'll shape workplace policies to ensure compliance and support, while also analyzing data to refine our practices continually. Your efforts to streamline our People processes will enhance employee satisfaction and operational efficiency.


You will play a key role in strengthening employee engagement, culture, and recognition programs, championing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, leading social responsibility projects that build community impact, and supporting learning and development programs that foster career growth and enhance organizational capability.


This position also serves as the primary People & Culture contact and representative for our Canadian team, ensuring that local needs, compliance requirements, and cultural nuances are well supported and integrated into broader company initiatives.


This is a temporary, full-time position covering a maternity leave for approximately 15 months




What Your Day Will Look Like



HR Operations & Compliance + Collaborate with the People Team and other stakeholders to develop policies, ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation, and align People strategies with business objectives.
+ Support and guide employees and managers on People issues and programs, ensuring high-quality service delivery and employee satisfaction.
+ Analyze People metrics to optimize processes, improve employee experience, and inform decision-making.
+ Lead or assist in key projects and change initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
Engagement, Culture, & Development + Oversee and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and foster a positive workplace culture.
+ Oversee recognition programs that celebrate employee achievements and foster belonging.
+ Spearhead DEI initiatives and social responsibility projects to build an inclusive and community-focused workplace.
+ Partner with the People team to design and implement learning and development strategies, ensuring career growth opportunities and a skilled workforce.
Office & Facilities Management + Lead the OH&S Committee, including policy updates, meeting facilitation, communications, and WorkplaceNL submissions.
+ Coordinate parking passes, access cards, and office security policies.
+ Manage relationships with facilities management vendors.
+ Oversee office supplies and snack programs, working with administration and IT as needed.
Serve as the main People & Culture contact for Canadian staff, providing employee relations support and guidance. + Manage Canadian onboarding (benefits overview, program enrollment, Slack channel setup) and offboarding (PAFs, exit interviews, ROEs).
+ Complete HR/payroll-specific Statistics Canada surveys.
+ Lead Canadian People & Culture team meetings and manage the St. John's social committee, including planning events and fostering community engagement.
+ Participate in and build partnerships with local organizations

What Should Be In Your Bookbag



Minimum of 2 years of experience in HR operations, generalist, or similar roles with a strong understanding of all HR functions. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Relevant HR certifications (e.g., CPHR, SHRM-CP, PHR) are preferred. Experience working within a North America (NoA) People/HR team, with comfort navigating both U.S. and Canadian HR practices, compliance requirements, and cultural nuances, strongly preferred Strong operational and administrative skills with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with all levels of the organization. Proven problem-solving ability and sound decision-making based on timely analyses. High integrity, dependability, and results orientation. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs. Proficiency with HRIS/HR technology to support efficient HR operations.
