Job Description

Boundary Electric is looking for an experienced, strategic, and engaging People & Culture Specialist to join our team!!



*This role is ideally based on-site in Grand Forks, BC; however, we are open to considering remote candidates who bring exceptional experience and alignment with our culture.

The People & Culture Specialist will be primarily responsible for driving recruitment and talent acquisition initiatives that support Boundary Electric's rapid growth in both Canada and the United States. Working closely with the Director of People & Culture, this role will focus on sourcing top talent, building strong pipelines, and ensuring a best-in-class candidate experience.

While recruitment is the central responsibility, this role also provides support across HR administration, compliance, employee engagement, and U.S. expansion projects. The ideal candidate will bring innovative sourcing strategies, strong knowledge of Canadian employment standards, and exposure to U.S. HR, payroll and benefits practices is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities

:

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

o Lead and coordinate full-cycle recruitment across Canada and the U.S., including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding.

o Build and maintain strong talent pipelines to meet current and future workforce needs.

o Develop creative sourcing strategies to attract top candidates, particularly in competitive and specialized markets.

o Partner with managers and team leads to forecast staffing needs and deliver recruitment solutions aligned with business growth.

o Strengthen Boundary Electric's employer brand and ensure a positive experience throughout the recruitment process.

HR Administration & Compliance

o Provide guidance on Canadian employment standards across all provinces.

o Support HR setup for the U.S. entity, including payroll and benefits administration.

o Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies.

Employee Support & Engagement

o Assist with engagement initiatives such as recognition programs, milestone celebrations, surveys, and staff events.

o Support training coordination and professional development opportunities.

US Expansion Support

o Assist with payroll, benefits, and compliance implementation for the new U.S. entity.

o Research and recommend competitive benefits and HR practices for U.S. operations.

General People & Culture Support

o Provide support with performance management processes, scheduling, and documentation.

o Maintain HRIS data and prepare HR metrics/reports as needed.

o Step into varied HR projects and priorities to ensure smooth operations across Canadian and U.S. entities.

Other

o Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:



Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

3-5 years of progressive HR experience, with a strong emphasis on recruitment.

Proven success leading hiring initiatives, preferably in specialized or competitive markets.

Strong knowledge of Canadian employment standards across multiple provinces.

U.S. HR/payroll/benefits experience is an asset.

Creative thinker with fresh ideas for sourcing and employer branding.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems, plus Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

High level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Adaptability and willingness to step into varied HR and office tasks as priorities shift.

Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating closely with the team.

Able to work full-time.
