Overview
Are you an intermediate or senior human resources generalist who is a proven relationship builder committed to a high level of customer service? Do you have experience in labour relations, disability management, job design, change management, and workforce planning? We have a 2-year temporary opportunity for a People & Culture Business Partner to join a team of seasoned human resources professionals. In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll provide consulting and advisory services to a client group and support an organization that is passionate about the health and safety of workplaces across the province. As a People & Culture business partner you\xe2\x80\x99ll be providing expertise advice, support, and services in a variety of human resources areas including:

  • Labour relations
  • Performance development and coaching
  • Leadership development and succession planning
  • Disability management
  • HR policies
  • Programs/initiatives
  • Job design
  • Change and transition management

  • Thrive in a challenging and dynamic setting, building and maintaining strong working relationships across the organization as part of the management team
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of their clients\xe2\x80\x99 business needs and proactively apply people and culture leadership and practices in the delivery of HR programs and initiatives
  • Apply strong problem solving and creative thinking skills
  • Use strong facilitation to coach and guide managers in resolving workplace issues to create a positive and respectful employee experience
  • Provide expert guidance in performance development, workforce planning and change management
  • Be proficient with computer systems, HRIS and/or PeopleSoft, and use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to develop, analyze and present information to clients and management
You also possess strong capabilities in:
  • Results management: You are well equipped to set goals and objectives, devise plans for achievement of goals, monitor progress, solve problems, and make effective decisions.
  • Creative thinking: You can see new possibilities, find connections between disparate ideas, and reframe thinking about an issue; you are innovative and can use new ideas or perspectives to solve difficult problems.
  • Change management: You know how to establish the need for change, initiate effective plans for required changes, influence others to participate in change, and integrate new ways of working.
  • Customer service focus: You have a strong customer service orientation founded on understanding the business needs and pressures of our clients, and the ability to proactively identify needs and take action to resolve issues.
  • Influencing: You are persuasive and know when to be appropriately persistent in influencing clients and stakeholders; you can help managers align their actions and decisions with WorkSafeBC\xe2\x80\x99s organizational goals and experience framework.
  • Organizational awareness: You understand the value of building and maintaining positive relationships; you know who the key stakeholders are, and how and when to involve them; and instinctually know when to use diplomacy or assertiveness to achieve objectives.
Your experience and educational background:
  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a concentration in human resources or a related discipline
  • A minimum of five years of experience as an HR generalist
  • Experience in a unionized setting is preferred
  • Operational experience is a requirement
  • CPHR designation (or working towards completion) is an asset
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
