YESS is a not-for-profit agency working with youth facing difficult realities. Based in Edmonton, our Youth Support Centre provides immediate and low-barrier 24/7 sleep support and individualized wrap-around supports for young people aged 15 -24.
We work collaboratively within a network of care focused on the prevention of youth homelessness by providing youth with the necessary supports to stabilize their housing, improve their wellbeing, build life skills, connect with community, and avoid re-entry into homelessness.
At YESS, wellness is part of our environment. Youth are supported by our Wellness Integration Team with holistic, trauma-informed care, while staff benefit from our Wellness Practitioner, who provides ongoing confidential support and resources for balance and well-being.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a People & Culture (P&C) Manager to join our team and play a vital role in shaping the employee experience and organizational culture at YESS. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, this role offers the chance to combine strategic influence with hands-on leadership.
As a trusted advisor, you will partner closely with leaders and managers, providing people-centric advice and solutions that build leadership capacity, strengthen culture, and foster employee engagement. You will ensure that our people practices are compliant, efficient and also compassionate and aligned with our organizational values.

Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Director of People & Culture and People & Culture Coordinator, the People & Culture Manager is a key member of the People & Culture (P&C) team and is directly responsible for cultivating a vibrant, inclusive, and high-performing organizational culture.
Leadership & Advisory
Act as trusted advisor on HR and culture matters.
Coach managers to strengthen leadership, performance, and engagement.
Partner with Director to align people strategies with organizational goals.
Talent Acquisition & Development
Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives aligned with values and needs.
Enhance candidate/employee experience through surveys, feedback, and recognition.
Design and deliver learning and career development programs.
Assess training needs and facilitate workshops or external learning.
Performance Management
Lead performance management frameworks and coach leaders/employees.
Support annual review process.
Payroll, Compensation & Benefits
Administer payroll, compensation, and benefits ensuring equity and compliance.
Liaise with providers to resolve issues.
Policy & Compliance
Develop, review, and enforce HR policies aligned with legislation and culture.
Provide guidance on policies, programs, and legislation.
Employee Relations & Culture
Advise on complex employee relations issues.
Promote an inclusive and engaging workplace.
Change & Projects
Lead HR projects and change initiatives that strengthen organizational capacity.
Disability & Leave Management
Oversee disability management, WCB claims, and return-to-work plans.
Manage LOA tracking, agreements, and documentation.
Support LTD application process.
Other Responsibilities
Deliver excellent service to stakeholders.
Maintain HRIS systems (ADP, BambooHR) for accuracy and efficiency.
Use HR data/metrics to guide improvements.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Post-secondary education in HR/Business; HR certification preferred.
5+ years in HR business partnering across talent, compensation, compliance, and HRIS.
Strong legislative knowledge and experience in policy and employee relations.
Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS (ADP, BambooHR).
