Tuesdays: Peer Team Meetings 330-4pm (bi-weekly), Thursdays: Talk & Step 2-3pm & Fridays: Cooking & Art 11am-3pm

SCOPE AND LEVEL DEFINITION



Supports promoting the values of autonomy, diversity and empowerment, acting as a link to community based supports and other resources.

TYPICAL WORK RESPONSIBILITIES



1. Facilitates group support programs to encourage skill development in areas such as self-esteem, coping skills, motivation, and the formation of mutual support networks. Reports difficulties to the supervisor. Provides related feedback, and follows up with clients as required.

2. Facilitates intakes as needed, determines suitability for the program, and makes referrals to other programs as required, in collaboration with the Manager of Programs.

3. Facilitates the cooking group including menu planning, shopping, preparation, and clean-up of the kitchen. Involves participants in every step of meal preparation, cooking and clean-up. Lunch is shared and a portion taken home for every participants, the facilitator helps create a safe and inclusive space where social connection and interaction happen.

4. Evaluates programs using information attained by observation and client feedback on issues such as group session effectiveness, and material presented. Reports feedback to the Manager and Director of Programs.

5. Supports programs by performing duties such as scheduling session times, booking facilities, and acquiring materials in collaboration with the PEER support team and the Manager of Programs.

6. Provides clients with program and community resource information.

7. Promotes programs by providing information to clients, the public, and healthcare professionals in collaboration with the Director of Programs.

8. Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as group session evaluation summaries including attendance tracking on excel spreadsheets

9. Attends bi-weekly team meetings with the Manager of Programs and monthly department meetings.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS



Typical Education, Training, and Experience



Diploma in Community Social Service

Recent, related experience of two years

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and lived experience of mental health services

Or other Qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work

OTHER REQUIREMENTS



Clear criminal record check (Solicitor General); Negative TB Test; Up-to-date on Provincial immunization schedule; Valid Food Safe certificate; Vehicle required

Pay: From $30.20 per hour
