•Summary •
The Peer Support worker will collaboratively work with U-Turn and The Grace Centre.
U-Turn is a registered non-profit organization which helps "People live beyond addiction free from stigma." The Grace Centre is an 18-bed inpatient facility designed to support individuals in their journey from active addiction to active recovery. As a member of these teams, the Peer Support will walk alongside individuals on their path to wellness and openly share their own lived experience without judgment. The Peer Support worker will be an integral member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for delivering substance use and prevention from a peer support model.

? Demonstrate knowledge recovery groups, harm reduction
? Strong interpersonal, relationship building, active listening, verbal and written communication skills.
? Ability to provide empathetic, helpful, and supportive responses.
? Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
? Ability to use conflict resolution skills to mediate complex situations effectively.
? Strong facilitation and group presentation skills.
? Positive and professional attitude with commitment to continual process improvement.
? Strong awareness and use of appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
•Essential Responsibilities •
? Utilizing your own lived experience in peer support activities.
? Provide individual support and group facilitation in collaboration with the U-Turn and the Grace Centre teams.
? Providing substance use and prevention information to participants.
? Documentation as required for the peer support program.
? Other related duties as required.
? Class 4 drivers license is an asset.

? Personal lived experience with (willingness to share) substance use/addictions journey
? Interest in supporting others
? Demonstrates empathetic, patient, and non-judgmental attitude
? Demonstrates commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality
? Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a supportive member of a team
? Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and relational skills - ability to establish trusting relationships
? Demonstrates a commitment to role modeling a recovery lifestyle
? Demonstrates effective strategies for maintaining own personal health/wellness
? Demonstrates ability to engage with individuals living with serious and persistent mental health and addictions
