Yorktown Family Services

provides a comprehensive range of mental health services for

children, youth, young adults and families who are experiencing serious

emotional/social/behavioral difficulties along with several gender-based violence initiatives.

Yorktown Family Services is seeking a

Peer Navigator

with lived

experience to support the creation of a youth advisory committee, provide navigation supports for youth within the wellness hub, engage in outreach activities and youth engagement

activities in West Toronto. The Peer Navigator will implement supports within the hub to engage youth in different capacities such as advisory, social media, and within service engagement.

Responsibilities



Participate in outreach and recruitment strategies to reach youth populations that will participate in the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) Facilitate monthly Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) meetings at the West Toronto Wellness Hub Implement YAC work plan to support YWHO initiatives that require youth voice Engage youth participants to guide the content development for social media
Utilize and maintain social media page to share program information and engage with youth

Work in collaboration with the 2SLGBTQ+ Peer Navigator to support youth in accessing services with the Youth Wellness Hub Ontario Participate in supervisory and team meetings, program reviews and trainings as
necessary

Assist in quantitative and qualitative data collection, program evaluation and other
administrative activities as needed, and in a timely manner

Qualifications



Relatable and relevant peer experience with youth in the West Toronto Community Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to develop trusting and safe relationships with the target population while maintaining professional boundaries Experience in group facilitation and peer support preferred Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team Experience with technology such as computers and smart phones, video conferencing
apps like WebEx, and social media platforms like Instagram

Highly organized and resourceful Knowledge and familiarity of health and social service programs in the GTA an asset Complete a VSS check
