Student Learning Services (SLS) offers a wide range of programs and services to facilitate positive development in students' academic practices, fostering success at university and growth as life-long learners. The two SLS service teams, Writing and Learning Services and the Peer Learning Program, provide learning support experiences to enhance the academic performance and retention of undergraduate students in all programs and all years of study.




About the Role

The Peer Learning Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the Peer Learning Program, which connects trained student volunteers with students seeking academic support. The program serves more than 100 volunteers and around 800 students each year. Working closely with another co-coordinator and reporting to the Peer Learning Supervisor, you'll help recruit, train, and support student volunteers, coordinate matches, and build a supportive and inclusive community. This role is a great fit for someone who is detail-oriented, experienced with volunteer or student programs, and thrives in a student-focused, fast-paced environment.


This position is a full-time role working 35 hours per week.



Responsibilities

Recruit, train, and support student volunteers who provide academic help to their peers. Coordinate matches between students seeking help and available volunteers. Coach experienced student volunteers who take on peer leadership roles. Plan and deliver training sessions and ongoing professional development for volunteers. Provide feedback and monitor volunteer performance. Foster community among volunteers through events, recognition, and regular communication. Maintain accurate program records and track key data in a large database using Google Sheets. Manage high volumes of communication through email, newsletters, and social media. Collaborate with staff to improve program systems and processes. Occasional weekend/evening work required

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree. 2-3 years of experience supporting students in an educational setting, ideally post-secondary. Experience working with or coordinating volunteers or peer programs. Intermediate to advanced skills with Google Sheets, Forms, and Slides -- including formulas, filters, and structured data collection for assessment purposes. Strong organization and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills -- written, verbal, and interpersonal. Ability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines with independence and flexibility. A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in student development.





Salary: $60,571 - $76,640 per annum
