Provide PBLA support, training, and mentoring to LINC instructors across York Region.
Conduct one-on-one meetings with instructors to address PBLA-related topics such as needs analysis, learners' goal setting and orientation to PBLA, module planning, learners' portfolio development, artifact collection and CLB progress tracking, assessment tasks development (AT/SU/SB) and tools, rubric-based scoring, CLB level assignment, inventory tracking, and learners' progress report.
Support and mentor LINC instructors to enhance the integration of Avenue.ca in daily instruction and PBLA implementation, learn and model the effective use of new resources and tools as technology evolves.
Assist in the development of a repertoire of PBLA-based resources and digital tasks (AT/SU/SB) and provide training on their use as needed.
Stay current on PBLA and language training developments by joining PBLA Leads and professional groups, attending relevant workshops and sharing key insights with colleagues.
Deliver workshops and professional development sessions on PBLA implementation and best practices in language instruction.
Assist LINC instructors in providing PBLA and Avenue.ca orientation to learners if required.
Support PBLA monitoring and review by assisting Program Managers in aligning PBLA practices among LINC instructors, reviewing documentation to establish consistency, and providing feedback for improvement.
Identify gaps, recommend implementation strategies, trouble shoot and recommend solutions to PBLA and Avenue.ca related issues.
Participate in team and management meetings to offer input on meeting organizational needs and funder expectations.
DUTIES: LINC INSTRUCTOR (
20 hours per week)
Develop and deliver lessons that align with LINC curriculum and meet the needs of the learners.
Design PBLA based module plans, as well as daily lesson plans following the Revised Canadian Language Benchmarks 2012.
Develop a diversity of course materials that are based on the LINC Curriculum Guidelines in a task-based program for the learners.
Create engaging lesson plans that accommodate both on-site and remote students and provide class interaction and variation throughout the day.
Conduct needs assessments with learners, assist them to set learning goals, and develop lessons accordingly as required.
Design assessment tasks for on-going evaluation of learners' progress based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks and PBLA guidelines.
Assist learners in organizing and updating the PBLA Language Companions (learner portfolios) as evidence of their learning progress.
Provide synchronous and asynchronous online instruction using virtual conferencing tools, e.g., MS Teams, language learning software, and MS programs.
Integrate online resources and Learning Management System such as Avenue.ca in language instruction that are adaptable to the learners.
Ensures in creating a non-threatening and positive learning environment by acknowledging and respecting students' existing skills and life experiences.
Maintain attendance records and other documentation as required.
Organize special events to enhance learners' participation and cultural experience.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
PBLA Lead Instructor certified.
Avenue.ca Stage 4 certified.
Minimum 2 years' experience teaching LINC with full integration of Avenue.ca as well as other digital resources and tools.
Advanced understanding of the LINC Curriculum and PBLA implementation Guidelines
Advanced knowledge and experience using virtual delivery tools, software and applications (e.g. MS Teams, One Drive, Elli, etc.).
Ability to adapt teaching methodology to the needs/skill levels of individual learners.
Strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve.
Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated leadership skills in a team environment.
Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of LINC instructors with strong coaching skills.
Ability to work independently with excellent organizational and time management skills.
TESL certificate from an accredited institution recognized by TESL Ontario.
Experience working in a multicultural environment.
Ability to work independently with excellent organizational and time management skills.
