Payroll Technician

Job Description

The payroll group has as a mission to manage the payroll operations within a timeframe, conform to the fiscal rules and regulations in addition to the policies and procedures of the company. Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, your role will consist to produce, by collaborating with the coordination team, the pay of all unionized and non-unionized employees of all Domtar?s divisions in a timely and accurate manner ensuring quality of information generated.   • Carry out activities relating to Canadian and US payroll production within the required deadlines in accordance with fiscal regulations and Domtar?s policies and procedures;
  • Enter data for Family Support and garnishment;
  • Reconcile payroll records and solve discrepancies in collaboration with the Finance department if needed;
  • Balance and prepare payments for various suppliers;
  • Production of various monthly reports;
  • Respond to requests from internal and external clients;
  • Participate to the year-end activities for the Canadian and US payroll and ensure accurate and timely processing;
  • Participate to the integration, the testing and the implementation of payroll system enhancements, interfaces and tax updates;
  • Participate to special projects as required.

Professional Experience/Qualifications:
  • College diploma in administration or accounting;
  • Minimum of three (3) years? of experience in a similar position;
  • Member of the Canadian Payroll Association or the American Payroll Association is an asset;
  • Experience with a major payroll software application as well as knowledge of the SAP system will be considered assets;
  • Experience with American payroll is an asset
  • Good knowledge of payroll rules;
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Software, particularly with Excel.
