Since its founders purchased their first property in 1970, our client has assembled an extensive and diverse portfolio of self-managed revenue-producing properties in both Canada and the United States. The portfolio includes office, retail, industrial and residential buildings, as well as a group of affiliated hotels and one of North America's largest indoor tennis facilities. Our client is now looking for a highly motivated, hardworking Payroll Supervisor who is interested in working for a company with great advancement opportunities. If you have payroll experience, along with a drive to learn and you're looking to grow with a well-established hospitality and real estate company, then you may be our next Payroll Supervisor. Payroll Supervisor Reporting to the Director of HR, the Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the entire payroll process and for the management of two payroll clerks. This person will oversee all payroll-related activities. Our client is looking for a rigorous, organized, and autonomous person who has excellent communication skills. The Payroll Supervisor must be professional, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure. This individual must have competencies in supervising, planning and in building good working relationships internally and externally. Practically speaking you will: * Manage the preparation and processing of payroll for 14 companies with unionized and non-unionized employees * Understand and apply collective agreements, corporate policies, tax laws and provincial laws (Quebec, Ontario, and Eastern Canada) that have an impact on labor standards * Communicate with internal and external stakeholders (city, provincial, federal, agency, etc.) * Prepare pay journal entries for each pay period * Manage source deductions, government, and union remittances * Balance and prepare year-end reports relating to payroll (T4/RL1 summaries, CNESST, WSIB, WHSCC) * Provide support to department heads regarding time tracking and payroll processing systems * Optimize the use of Time zone and Nethris systems and participate in the development of new modules * Respond to inquiries from employees, department heads, the accounting department, and members of the management team * Validate and update the various time banks (vacation, sick days, statutory holidays, etc.) * Manage group insurance premium, payroll entries and remittances Additionally, you're a good fit for this role if you are: - Independent - you don't need or want someone looking over your shoulder. The Details: This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday 9:00AM - 5:00 PM. What You'll Bring * University degree in administration, human resources, or accounting * Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll * Bilingual in English and French, both written and spoken * Knowledge of computer applications, including TimeZone and Nethris * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite * Knowledge of payroll practices and legislation * Experience in a unionized environment * Experience working with multiple entities And these are some assets: * Minimum 1 year in a management/supervisory position (asset) * Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) by the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) (asset) * Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) by the Canadian Payroll Association (asset) How To Apply We value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified people to apply.
