About the Opportunity

  • Process semi-monthly payroll and off-cycle runs independently for multiple legal entities across Canada using Dayforce
  • Manage all aspects of payroll data including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, and shareholders\' loans
  • Compile and process payroll deductions such as garnishments, vacation time, health benefits, RRSP contributions, and other deductions
  • Conduct audits on Dayforce remittances for source deductions like CPP, EI, personal tax, employer health tax, and WCB
  • Prepare monthly or quarterly remittances to third parties including BC employer health tax, WSIB (Ontario), and provincial workers\' compensation boards
  • Generate monthly payroll journal entries for accounting purposes
  • Download and provide monthly RRSP reports, and facilitate payment requests to accounting
  • Administer group insurance benefits by managing enrollments, terminations, and reconciling monthly invoices from benefit providers
  • Maintain and update records for taxable benefits and process vehicle taxable benefits
  • Ensure compliance with privacy legislation by creating and maintaining separate employee records
  • Manage year-end procedures including reconciliations for T4 issuance and summaries
  • Complete annual reconciliations for Workers Compensation, Employer Health Tax, and Health and Education Tax
  • Generate scheduled and ad-hoc reports for management as needed
  • Verify and ensure accuracy of all payroll system changes in accordance with company policies and Corporate Governance
  • Collaborate with HR to resolve payroll discrepancies and enhance processes
  • Respond to Statistics Canada surveys related to payroll and job vacancies
  • Support with audits as required
About You
  • 5+ years of full cycle payroll processing experience
  • Experienced processing journal entries related to payroll
  • Benefits administration experience (supporting national HR person)
  • Ceridian Dayforce, knows how to use it
  • Very strong excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs)
  • Excellent communication skills
