Payroll is critical because it ensures accurate, timely pay, compliance with regulations, and supports organizational integrity. This role is key to maintaining trust, efficiency, and a positive employee experience across the organization. This role includes preparing payroll, reviewing data for compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, and performing reconciliations. The position involves regular interaction with employees and management to address payroll inquiries, audits, and reporting requests. As part of a collaborative team, the Payroll Specialist will contribute to process improvements and participate in assigned projects to enhance efficiency and compliance.
What You'll Do Day-To-Day:
Compiles payroll data and statistics to maintain records and for the calculation of payroll.
Accumulates and organizes information to ensure that related payroll accounts are reported to all required governmental agencies.
Prepares and creates standard and ad-hoc reports.
Reviews and ensures accurate computation of pay and interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
Assignments may include participating in internal and external audits.
Answers employee questions pertaining to their pay advice.
Processes and audits routing full-time and part-time payrolls.
Maintains records for audit and historical purposes.
Process out-of-cycle payments, reversals and adjustments when required.
What You'll Bring:
High School diploma or equivalent education with a minimum of 2 years of related experience is required.
Compiles payroll data and statistics to maintain records and for the calculation of payroll.
Accumulates and organizes information to ensure that related payroll accounts are reported to all required governmental agencies.

Reviews and ensures accurate computation of pay and interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.

Experience with processing payroll for unionized workers and knowledge of EPSCA and CUSW collective agreements is an asset.
Experience with UKG payroll system is an asset.
