Job Description

Thyssen Mining is seeking a proven leader to take charge of payroll operations across Canada and the U.S. As Payroll Supervisor, you will lead a team of payroll professionals, drive compliance and accuracy, and champion process improvements in a dynamic, multi-jurisdictional environment. This is a full-time in-office position, located in Regina, SK.


Leadership Responsibilities




Lead and mentor

the payroll team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Own the end-to-end payroll process

for Canadian and U.S. employees, ensuring timely and compliant execution.

Guide cross-functional collaboration

with HR and Finance to align payroll with broader organizational goals.

Champion change

by implementing legislative updates, system enhancements, and process improvements.

Direct internal and external audits

, ensuring readiness and compliance across all payroll functions.

Develop and enforce SOPs

, setting the standard for payroll excellence and consistency.

Leadership Qualifications




Supervisory or leadership role within payroll. Demonstrated success in leading payroll transformations and driving operational efficiency. Strong command of Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation, with the ability to lead compliance initiatives CPP or PLP designation required, with a preference for those who have led teams through complex payroll cycles. Experience with UKG and a tech-forward mindset to optimize payroll systems and tools.

Leadership Credentials




Holds a recognized payroll leadership designation, such as: + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) - U.S
+ Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) - Canada
Proven ability to lead payroll teams through complex, multi-jurisdictional environments. Demonstrated success in strategic payroll leadership, including transformation initiatives and compliance oversight.

Preferred Leadership Traits




Change agent with a passion for process improvement. Tech-savvy leader who leverages systems to streamline operations. Experience in contracting and mining environments is an asset. Skilled in confidentiality management and benefits administration.
