The ideal candidate must be able to contribute to the production of accurate and timely payroll for employees, communicate effectively, and deliver strong internal customer service while working in a deadline-driven environment. We are currently seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator to become an integral part of our finance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a Canadian workforce, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and union agreements.Responsibilities- Operate regular payroll reporting as required and assist with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger- Devise systems and protocols to direct the collection, calculation and entering of pay data- Produce quarterly and year-end payroll reports- Inspect data entered by others in the payroll software to include, but not limited to salary/wage increases, benefit deductions, employee termination dates, and employee leaves of absence under FMLA or other unpaid leave- Aim for timely processing of payroll in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles- Honor current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the processing of employee wage data, including payroll taxes, employee federal and state income and social security taxes and other required reporting- Reinforce staff with wage deductions, fringe benefits, pay related issues, PTO accruals, and general questions related to payroll- Comply with internal business partners, Information Technology, and Human Resources to ensure security protocols for pay systems- Address voluntary deductions, as well as wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner, including reporting to the necessary authorities- Inquire fringe benefit reporting, pay practices related to FLSA, and other payroll areas to determine how those practices apply to advise management- Ceridian experience- Microsoft Excel experience- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) experience- Union payroll experience- CPP or FPC recommended- Understanding of processing liens, garnishments, and various withholdings- 3+ years of payroll experience- Qualified in HRIS system and high proficiency with spreadsheetRobert Half is the world\'s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
