JOB TITLE:
Payroll and Finance Analyst, Job Reference #202510-05
DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director, Institutional Planning and Finance, the Payroll and Finance Analyst will be ensure the accuracy, compliance and integration of payroll, benefits, and financial data and processes across Human Resources and Finance departments, while supporting planning, reporting and reconciliation activities.
This role will:
Review and validate payrolls and government remittances, and journal entries, ROEs, and year-end filings (T4, T4A, EHT, etc.), analyze discrepancies, address source for errors, and follow up for adjustments.
Make proactive recommendations for process improvements.
Reconcile benefit and pension accounts, and related payroll general ledger accounts.
Assist in managing the Financial Structure of the Financial Information System (FIS) and assist in calculating and managing the budgets including salary with ongoing complement analysis.
Providing financial data and labour cost analysis to support collective bargaining and executive reporting.
Prepare journal entries and support payroll accruals, monthly/ quarterly financial reports, and forecasting.
Assist in managing the financial structure of the HR and Finance system, working closely with ITS and testing configuration regularly to ensure functionality.
Support the payroll team when errors or maintenance issues occur.
Collaborate with AP and Procurement to review and process Research Grant expenses.
Ensure compliance with King's policies and procedures, collective and staff agreements, Canadian Revenue Agency and Financial Services Authority of Ontario, Employment Standards Act rules and regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have a University Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR or related field.
More than 2 years of previous relevant experience.
Minimum 2 years of full-cycle payroll experience, ideally in a unionized or complex payroll environment.
PCP certification, CPM or CPA an asset
Experience with payroll systems and financial software (e.g. Sparkrock, Business Central)
Experience with system transformation/ migration.
Experience in multi-union or complex payroll environment and working across departments.
Advanced Excel skills and strong reconciliation data/ analysis ability.

SALARY RANGE:
PSG 13 - $70,463 to $88,228 per annum, dependent on experience.
