This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

What you'll do
Responsible for implementing and testing system updates and configuration as required based on internal business requirements, Year End notes and legislative updates
Interpreting relevant provincial and federal legislation, collective agreements, and corporate policies and procedures that influence the administration of the payroll function Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and related workflows, outline opportunities for improvement
Provide education, and communication of Payroll policies and procedures at TCHC, in partnership with external consultants and service providers
Delivers training related to day-to-day tasks and project initiatives to payroll administrators
Responsible for developing and executing of all Payroll & HRIS reporting, exemption and audits reports, employee master data & payroll data integrity
Review and analyze all payroll information to identify, resolve and eliminate payroll discrepancies
Provide payroll metrics and trends through various payroll reports
Prepare cost estimates for the HR/LR units in relation to reorganizations, termination of positions and Collective Bargaining
Interpret and analyze the impact of the terms of the Collective Agreement to Payroll processing such as new pay structure, retro payments, MOS (Minutes of Settlement)
Acts as payroll back-up supporting various payroll functions when needed
Lead year end payroll activities such as balancing of gross earnings, taxable benefits, statutory remittances, EHT, WSIB and the accuracy of Pension Adjustment reporting
Calculating, reporting and reconciling WSIB benefit and top-up payments in compliance with applicable collective agreements, including WSIB and tax legislation
Controlling and monitoring the timelines for the year-end payroll updates for employee records and T4/T4A production, as well as scheduling and initiates auditing, balancing, loading, and printing of T4/T4As
What you'll need
College diploma in Business Administration and/or Human Resource Certificate
Canadian Payroll Association Certification - PCP designation, is considered an asset
5-7 years specializing in payroll processing with experience in a unionized environment
Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Canada Pension Plan, Canada Revenue Agency regulations, Employment Insurance, Employer Health Tax, and WSIB regulations
Extensive experience using payroll systems (e.g. time and attendance and payroll software; Ceridian Dayforce, WTES and Ceridian Insync is an asset
Excellent computer skills (e.g. MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Crystal Report Writing) Advanced Excel skills including vlook-up, nested IF statements and Pivot tables (experience manipulating and summarizing data)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex payroll issues, such as taxable benefits and withholding taxes on settlements, depending on the targeted audience, in both written and verbal format. A high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality is required
