This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of union and non-union payroll for salary and hourly employees, the reconciliation and remittances of associated general ledger accounts.

Responsibilities:



Receive and process payroll information from various points in the organization. Review and ensure payroll data is in accordance with union agreements and company policies Enter information into the payroll system, print data reports, verify accuracy, correct any discrepancies and print final reports and pay stubs. Identifies areas of concern with data provided and communicates with appropriate supervisor or manager to clarify as necessary. New employee set up in the payroll system ensuring completeness and accuracy of documentation Updating and maintaining existing employee profile Enroll employees in various plans as needed (ie.: group insurance and union) Coordinates the purchase of employee safety footwear in accordance with the company policy Reconciles and remits payroll deductions to the federal government as required by law. Reconcile group insurance, reconcile and remit union dues, union pension, RRSP's and garnishees. Reconcile vacation GL for hourly staff and tracks vacation for salary staff. Prepares month end accruals of hours not yet paid. Respond to employee inquiries Produce monthly overtime reports for operations and other reports as requested by various departments Produce records of employment for terminated employees as required by law Assist with year-end audit
Other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications:



Education:

Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) with a minimum of 2-year experience post-graduation
Experience:

Previous experience in processing union and non-union payroll for multiple divisions Previous experience in benefits administration and account reconciliation is an asset

Other benefits: Employer pension matching up to a max of 3%; group benefits with a 75% employer paid and 25% employee paid
