Job Overview
We're seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable & Payroll Administrator to join our finance team at Blue Grass Sod Farms in Red Deer. This dual-role position will focus on maintaining accurate customer accounts, processing timely payroll for our seasonal and year-round staff, and supporting the financial health of our business.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment that changes with the seasons -- much like the landscapes we help create.

Payroll Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly payroll for multiple divisions (farm, garden centre, nursery) using Payworks software.
Maintain up-to-date employee payroll records, including new hires, pay changes, and terminations.
Calculate and remit source deductions, WCB, and other government filings accurately and on time.
Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and prepare journal entries.
Track vacation, sick leave, and other employee entitlements.
Assist with year-end reporting including T4s, ROEs, and payroll summaries.
Coordinate employee benefit programs and maintain accurate benefit records and deductions in payroll.
Coordinate the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program and assist with LMIA applications and renewals, working closely with management and government agencies.
Ensure all payroll data is handled with the highest level of confidentiality and accuracy.
Provide payroll and HR administrative support to management as needed.

Accounts Receivable Responsibilities
Record and apply incoming payments accurately using accounting software.
Prepare and send invoices, monitor aging reports, and follow up on outstanding accounts.
Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Maintain organized financial records and support month-end closing.
Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure billing accuracy.
Provide reporting and insights on collection trends and customer payment patterns.
Support general bookkeeping activities as needed.

Qualifications
2+ years of experience in payroll, accounts receivable, or general bookkeeping.
Proficiency with Payworks (or equivalent payroll software).
Experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel.
Experience with Windward System 5 ERP software considered an asset.
Solid understanding of Alberta Employment Standards, CRA payroll requirements and reporting deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, especially during busy seasons.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with both office and field staff.
Previous experience in agriculture, retail, or seasonal industries is an asset.
