We acknowledge all Nations who live, work, and play, help us steward this land, and honour and celebrate this place.The OpportunityThe Pay and Benefits Administrator is responsible for providing senior administrative services for the pay and pension/benefits areas. The Pay and Benefits Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely remuneration of the approximately 400-600 employees of Banff Centre.The Incumbent is accountable for the delivery of the pay, administering the pension and benefits plans, planning and delivery of basic training programs relating to time and labour, and providing supervisors with support and guidance in the application of Human Resources and Payroll/Pension/Benefits policies/procedures/processes as well as the Collective Agreement/Terms and Conditions of Employment.Roles and ResponsibilitiesReporting to Manager, Pay, Pension and Benefits below are some key accountabilities:Time, Labour and Pay

  • Work to fulfil the time, labour and pay needs of Banff Centre. Plan and deliver time, labour and pay activity under the general direction of the Manager.
  • Provide support to the managers and supervisors by ensuring correct interpretation of and compliance with Banff Centre\xe2\x80\x99s time, labour and pay policies.
  • Utilize sound knowledge of the Revenue Canada-Payroll information, Employment Standards, FOIP and the Collective Agreement to ensure Banff Centre is in compliance regarding pay practices.
  • Accountable for the preparation, documentation and payment of all processes related to pay. This includes, but is not limited, to the reconciliation of accounts, production of all-year pay processes, and management of information.
  • Ensure that sessional and faculty contracts are in compliance with the staffing plan, collective agreement, CRA and other payroll related regulations where applicable and under the direction of the Manager.
  • Entitlements
  • Track entitlement usage to ensure that employees are receiving the correct allocation of vacation, sick leave, and other paid leave as provided by their employment contract. Work with the Manager to identify situations where HR intervention may be required.
  • Perform administration of the Health Spending Account and Personal Health and Wellness Spending Account programs in accordance with established practices.
Group Benefit Plan
  • Apply the administrative and legal regulations of the insurer in accordance with established practices. This includes enrolments, terminations, changes, and conversion of coverage, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure the accurate maintenance of all benefit information.
  • Reconcile payments to the insurer and remit payment within applicable deadlines under the direction of the Manager.
Pension Plans
  • Responsible for the internal administration of two pension plans in which all salaried staff are enrolled. This involves two distinct areas, plan administration and member services. This includes auditing contributions, service, and participation.
  • Leave Administration
  • Perform the administration of paid and unpaid leaves of absence to ensure leave is taken in compliance with regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor employees on general sick leave or leave of absence to prevent overpayment from occurring.
  • Work closely with the Health and Safety Officer, the Manager, and each employee\xe2\x80\x99s manager/supervisor to ensure job accommodations are activated when possible, as per the physician\xe2\x80\x99s instructions.
WCB
  • Responsible for day-to-day reporting of any WCB claims and act as a liaison between employees, managers and WCB. Where required, work with the Health and Safety Officer, the Manager and employee\xe2\x80\x99s manager/supervisor to create return to work and modified work plans to assist the employee to return to the workplace in a timely and safe manner.
  • Responsible for the correct reporting and remittance of required payments to WCB Boards in Alberta and across Canada as required and under the direction of the Manager.
Retention and Training
  • Work with the appropriate Human Resources team member to deliver the internal pay related training programs across the organization.
  • Provide support to the Human Resources team in handling the day-to-day administration of programs offered to employees including, but not limited to, for example, ski passes, etc. and as requested.
  • Handle the day-to-day processing of local bus pass purchases to employees as required.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
  • Canadian Payroll Association designation as a PCP or PCM is required or the equivalent in demonstrated experience
  • Possess or is pursuing a degree/certification in Human Resources studies is an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, specifically word, and excel
  • Project management to assist with the completion of the numerous projects assigned to this position is an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities within a deadline oriented environment
  • A minimum of three years of payroll and/or benefits experience
  • A clear criminal record
Employment Terms and Benefits
  • This is an hourly support staff position, subject to a 500-hour probationary period.
  • This position is between $28.29 to $29.70 per hour, depending on experience, based on working up to 37.5 hours per week on a regular schedule.
