What We Need:
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong customer service focus to be a part of the interprofessional team. As an integral member of our team and working in partnership with the Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses, you will support patient care in an environment where the focus is quality and patient/family centred care with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. As an effective team member you will utilize your strong communication skills and be actively involved in Quality Management initiatives.
Patient Care Support responsibilities will include:Assistance with close observation of patient needs; including monitoring patient comfort level Assistance with basic patient care as directed by the Nurse (i.e. bathing, nutrition, positioning and ambulation) Assist with patient moves and transfers Assistance with room set up Empty and change suction bottles as directed by the Nurse and provide and remove bed pans as delegated Assist with post mortem care Communication with patients/families to increase customer service

Non-Patient Care Support responsibilities will include:Stocking treatment areas and carts Maintaining linen supplies and cleanliness of the patient rooms (for admission and discharge), utility rooms, nursing station, tub and shower rooms and patient care equipment Assistance with responding to call bells Other duties as assigned

What you bring to the role:Completion of a recognized personal support worker certificate or health care aide program from a community college or equivalent education required Current BLS certification Previous related experience, preferably in an acute care facility Previous experience with responsive behaviours Proficient computer skills Knowledge of universal precautions and medical terminology an asset Strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of an interprofessional team Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
Work Schedule:

D12 and N12 (0730-1930 & 1930-0730) weekends and holidays
