Department/Unit/Program Description

The Diagnostic Imaging Department (DI) offers a variety of services to inpatients and outpatients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Modalities offered include X-ray, CT, MRI, US, Mammography (including Ontario Breast Screening OBSP), Echocardiography and non-invasive IR procedures.
Orthopedic fracture clinics run multiple days per week, adding to the variety of patients seen. Patient complexity ranges based on individual patient needs.

Position Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging department is currently seeking a Permanent Part Time Patient Access Clerk II to join their team.

Effective Date: July 17, 2023

The Patient Access Clerk is responsible to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging & Laboratory or designate for providing a variety of clerical duties to assist with the efficient and effective operation of D.I. department.

Essential Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical terminology - D.I. testing required
  • Keyboarding skills and minimum speed of 35 w.p.m. with high degree of accuracy - testing required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, a data base program and demonstrated experience in computer applications
  • Ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients, physicians and the public
  • Demonstrated high level of communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated professional manner
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job as per the current physical demands analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a hospital or medical office setting
  • Trained in EPIC preferred - training can be provided, but must pass required testing
  • PACS experience
  • Previous registration or booking experience
Hours of Work

Must be available to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings, nights), including weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
