Job Overview:



The Pathways Facilitator is dedicated to empowering young teen parents by fostering safe and supportive environments that promote personal growth and development. Through tailored mentorship and guidance, the facilitator helps participants enhance their leadership abilities, public speaking skills, and community engagement. Offering both one-on-one and group-based support, the Pathways Facilitator emphasizes goal-oriented strategies that encourage a forward-thinking mindset, ensuring that young teen parents are equipped to navigate their futures with confidence and resilience.

Job Conditions:



This is a full time (35 hours/week) with flexible hours Monday through Friday, 1-2 evenings/week, and the occasional weekend based on the needs of families and staff and to support day/evening programming. The position will be working out of the Terra Centre located at 10320-146 Street and Braemar School located at 9359 67a Street.

Key Responsibilities:



Be a leader and ambassador of Terra Centre for Teen Parents by practicing in a manner that is consistent with Terra's mission, vision, values, policies, strategic goals, and practice model Participate in annual performance review process Seeks to build supportive and responsive relationships with participants utilizing a trauma-informed and resiliency perspective. Accountability in completing work efficiently and effectively. Serve as a strong advocate on behalf of Terra and its young parents. Seek opportunities for collaboration and other methods of working cooperatively with team members, community agencies, and partners to meet the needs of participants. Expand personal sensitivity and knowledge regarding different cultures Plan and facilitate day and evening group programming across all Terra sites and in the community to support partnerships and collaborations programming Complete monthly statistical information and collect outcomes measures data and evaluation activities as required Provide social-emotional coaching to support participants' ongoing growth and development as individuals and parents. Adhere to Terra's policies and procedures and to the professional code of ethics of applicable professional associations Marketing and communicating Terra's Peers Educating Peers program to external organizations, focusing on pregnancy prevention, building community awareness and capacity. Recruit, coordinate, and develop young teen parents in their public speaking and communication skills to share at Terra events and fundraisers Maintaining virtual or phone contact with post-secondary Braemar graduates to help ensure positive transitions Establishing positive stakeholder relationships, liaising and with post secondary, trade-focused, career-based organizations Coordinating and facilitating post-secondary campus tours and employment exposure field trips Facilitate post high school awareness, readiness, development-based groups, including assisting in post-secondary application, career mapping and course selection

Qualifications:



A diploma or degree in a related human/social service field with a focus on coursework that includes psychology, social work, human ecology or similar field. Experience providing life skills coaching and training Experience coordinating and facilitating group programming Experience working with low income and marginalized young people, including those facing multiple barriers

Knowledge and Abilities:



Effectively and respectfully works with others who have diverse traditions, beliefs, interpersonal styles, attitudes, and behaviors. Ability to work flexible hours, if required Excellent communication skills, oral and written, including strong presentation and facilitation skills Ability to work with families from diverse cultural backgrounds and develop positive, effective, professional rapport and relationships with youth Knowledge of issues associated with people impacted by mental illness and substance abuse Knowledge of child/youth development and child-parent attachment Understanding and knowledge of the issues pregnant and parenting young people face

Other requirements:



Police Information Check (including vulnerable Sector Check) and Child and Youth Intervention Check, completed within the last 90 days prior to start date. Processing times may take several weeks to complete these checks. Results will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Manual dexterity required to operate various appliances and equipment. Ability to lift between 25- 50 lbs. Current Standard First Aid with Level C CPR, renewed every 3 years Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), renewed every 3 years Valid Driver's License, clear (or Director approved) Driver's Abstract, current vehicle registration Reliable vehicle, with 2 million dollars vehicle liability insurance, available for regular use, as outlined in Terra Policy Valid Driver's License, clear (or Director approved) Driver's Abstract, current vehicle registration when driving for business purposes

Compensation: The starting salary for the position is $45,000 - $47,857.



Upon completion of a probationary period, we offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution. Staff have three weeks of vacation, and, in addition, the agency is closed between Christmas and New Years.

Terra Centre offers free onsite or street parking depending on office location. We are also a casual business attire organization.

As a learning organization, Terra supports ongoing professional development among employees through formal training, informal mentoring, and personalized growth plans. Terra is continuing to grow our programming and there are anticipated opportunities for further professional growth within the agency.
