XO Bisous is looking for a Pastry Chef Reports directly to the Executive Chef and reports functionally; co- manages a pastry team
Supervises and participates in the production of all pastry / food items
Assists in managing the pastry team: schedules; submits payroll; provides feedback and motivation; trains on pastry production, principles and practices; coaches and counsels
Verifies all foods prepared meet quality standards in terms of portion size, flavor, texture and consistency
Produces decorative centerpieces and special orders
Orders and requisitions all supplies for the pastry shop
Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards
Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in a high-volume pastry preparation position
Knowledge of French pastries and techniques
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Intermediate computer skills
Degree from a post-secondary culinary/pastry arts training program preferred
Job Requirements
Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings and weekends
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
Ability to use a burning oven, commercial stand mixer and other pastry baking equipment
Experience in customer service or barista experience is an asset. We are looking for individuals with a minimum of 2 years hospitality experience. We are a small caf\xc3\xa9/ bakery located in downtown Toronto. We have transitioned to become a pastry wholesale/ prepared meal destination offering our customers home made high quality meals. Duties could include preparation of fresh products, taking guest orders, production during service, stocking, receiving, cleaning, and other tasks associated with this position. You will be working in a team environment that is fun, friendly and positive to be in. We provides healthy homemade sandwiches salads and pastries. We are a scratch made kitchen, which means we make everything by hand. We take pride in the food we make and the service we provide to each and every guest!
