We seek a qualified part-time teaching faculty member to join the School of Education and Leadership Master of Education Program to teach the course below.


Course Summary:




ECC601 Counselling Field Experience




The practicum field experience is the first of two mentored, integrated, sequential field experience courses planned by the student, the university instructor, and where possible, a mentoring school counsellor to meet program standards and individual learning goals. Learners practice basic counselling microskills, confidentiality, reflective practice, and writing personalized learning objectives. Class activities include a focus on wellbeing and the experience of being a practicum student. Students are oriented to processes such as finding a mentor and completing required forms. In the field, students observe school counsellors at elementary and/ or secondary levels to become familiar with the breadth and variation of the school counsellor role.

Requirements:





Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Counseling Psychology or related fields. Master-level candidates may occasionally be considered based on experience. Minimum of 5 years experience in the K-12 school system. Teaching experience desired. Skills in addressing student academic-related issues and concerns in support of retention and student success. Culturally competent to serve a diverse student and faculty body. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to provide a learning experience that links application with formal learning and adult learning theory. Ability to work in a team-oriented system and deal effectively with professional staff, faculty, and culturally diverse students. Ability to present a professional image for the school and City University of Seattle. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and learning management systems in support of quality teaching and learning.

Salary Information:




The part-time teaching faculty's salary is based on course level and the number of course credits.
