Position Overview:
We are seeking a Part-Time Staff Accountant to join our team on a flexible schedule -- approximately
500 hours per year
, with the majority of those hours worked during our busy season (February to April). This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys the intensity and challenge of busy season work but prefers a part-time schedule throughout the year.
The Staff Accountant will support our assurance team by preparing financial statements, assisting with audits, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role provides an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to client engagements without the demands of a full-time schedule.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze financial statements and supporting documentation.
Perform audit and review procedures with reduced supervision, ensuring thorough documentation and quality working papers.
Complete compilation assignments and assist with tax preparation (personal and corporate), including preparing T1 and T2 returns, as required.
Prepare client correspondence, working paper files, and other documentation as needed.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet deadlines and ensure efficient engagement delivery.
Ensure compliance with firm policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an accounting firm or similar environment.
CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA designation preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., iFirm, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a high attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
