Position Overview:



We are currently seeking a Part Time Kitchen Supervisor- Bloor Shelter to lead weekend kitchen operations. This role oversees the preparation and delivery of meals, ensuring high standards of food safety, quality, and nutrition. The Supervisor will coordinate a diverse kitchen team, manage daily workflows, and support inventory and menu development. The position requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering consistent, nutritious meals for shelter residents.

Required Work Schedule:

: Friday through Monday (Need 2-3 days in range of these days)

Key Responsibilities:



Lead and supervise the workflow- planning, execution and on-time delivery of catering for shelter residents at applicable shelter site(s). Schedule kitchen staff and manage staffing challenges in collaboration with the Manager of Food Service. Participate in hiring and performance management, including discipline, of staff members as appropriate. Contribute to menu planning and development, inventory ordering and inventory receiving as applicable to your site(s). Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, pantry and food service space at all times. Ensure compliance with all safe and healthy food handling and public health requirements at all times. Ensure issues related to equipment, pest control and the facility in general are reported promptly and assist as required in the resolution of such issues. Maintain excellent, consistent service standards for every meal, from appropriate portion sizes to food safety to food presentation to accurate preparation and labelling of dietary restrictions. Contribute to monthly reports of meals prepared and delivered, food use and food waste. Develop, maintain and model relationships with co-workers across sites, shelter residents and other stakeholders that are friendly, inclusive and professional at all times. Provide direct supervision to cooks, including facilitating formal meetings, documentation and discipline as appropriate and in collaboration with your manager. Integrate the work of training staff when required to support daily operations. This includes training, supervising, coaching, providing feedback and support for the development of trainees. Monitoring service quality, managing health and safety risks associated with trainee assignments. Ensure inventory of food, equipment and supplies is responsibly managed, protected and maintained, including ensuring food is labelled accurately, rotated appropriately and stored safely. Ensure all applicable documentation (timesheets, staff requests, delivery receipts, etc.) are properly kept and passed on appropriately. Support the regular evaluation and review of shelter meals in collaboration with the Food Service team, including supporting the development and implementation of appropriate mechanisms for resident feedback about meals at your site. Make recommendations for new procedures and initiatives, or adjustments to existing ones, to improve the catering system as time goes on. Support cross-departmental collaboration and contribute with enthusiasm to agency initiatives. Other duties may be assigned.

Pay: $50,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
