Any changes made to the hours of work will be done in accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Reporting to the Director, Communications, the Communications Specialist, Media & Social Media achieves the internal and external communication goals of the Health Centre through the application of specialized knowledge, skills and experience that align with the organizational needs and directions identified in the corporate Communication Strategy. This individual applies his or her skills to lead, advise, collaborate and execute projects, contributing to the broad and diverse range of communications methods and materials available through the organization’s corporate channels. The Communications Specialist, Media & Social Media is responsible for taking a proactive role in communication planning, strategy preparation, implementation and measurement, within a busy, fast-paced healthcare environment. This role contributes substantially to content development and the delivery of comprehensive communications plans through effective research, interviewing, professional copywriting, project management and issues management. This role is responsible for the design, scheduling and distribution of social media content, electronic newsletters, advertising, web content management and web analytics to support and promote PRHC’s internal and external publications. The individual in this role will develop, implement and maintain effective schedules and content for all corporate promotional channels, including social media. The successful candidate will be required to respond to inquiries from both internal and external contacts and provide excellent customer service to build positive working relationships. The role requires liaising with suppliers, representing the Communications team at forums and events as required, and additional similar and related duties. WHAT YOU’LL BRING: University or college degree/diploma in Public Relations/Communications/Journalism or related field Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a related field Experience in the health care or public sector environment is considered an asset WHO YOU ARE: Excellent communication, presentation and project management skills Strong analytical, critical thinking, planning, problem-solving and organizational skills Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people at all levels internally and externally Excellent ability to complete goals and objectives within specified time frames with minimal oversight/external direction Excellent conflict resolution and mediation/facilitation skills Demonstrated experience in a media environment, writing effective news releases and planning/executing media events and interviews Demonstrated experience developing key messages for media spokespeople Demonstrated experience in crisis management Exceptional understanding of English language standards and grammar; experience working within CP Style considered an asset Strong, demonstrated creative and technical skills in writing, editing and proofreading Excellent knowledge working with various modes of current and emerging media and complementary computer skills In-depth understanding of and experience with using social media as a communication/marketing tool Familiarity with iContact and/or other web publishing software Familiarity working as a content manager on various web platforms Familiarity working within the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Knowledge of Peterborough Regional Health Centre Aptitude for identifying corporate risk management issues Developing knowledge of leadership and management concepts and practices Developing knowledge of health care governance, legislation and administration concepts and principles Planning, analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to handle multiple demands at a time Ability to work independently with minimal oversight OUR COMMITMENT: At PRHC, we take great pride in maintaining an inclusive culture of respect and a diverse workforce that reflects the community we serve.
