  • Applicants can also pick up extra shifts during the weekdays
What does a CBSA Securiy Guard in Bowden do?
  • The safe and secure control and custody of individuals in all the work sites and at other locations (e.g., hospitals, hearings, etc.) as required by the CBSA
  • Complying with and applying all CBSA policies and POSOPS, and ensuring all individuals follow site specific rules
  • Monitoring and controlling designates areas inside and outside the resources assigned work location
  • Following CBSA building emergency procedures
  • Admitting individuals to the IHC or other CBSA facilities
  • Conducting intake (logging and itemization of personal effects) and decontamination of individuals belongings
  • Using CBSA-approved search methods
  • Communication using radios that comply with all provincial and federal regulations
  • Completing report and forms as required
  • Applying use of force principles and methods for intervention when handling individuals
  • Using metal detectors and x-ray technology
  • Monitoring individual\xe2\x80\x99s behavior through active engagement and using verbal de-escalation techniques, as required
  • Entire outer perimeter is safe and secure. Reporting verbally and in writing.
  • Ensuring all illegal items or substance are removed from an individual\xe2\x80\x99s personal belongings upon admission at Admission & Discharge
  • Admitting visitors to the IHC and advising specific rules and policies
  • Keeping up-to-date records, inventories and handing all incoming and outgoing mail
  • Meeting detained and non-detained individuals at in-bound domestic flights and
  • escort them to their outbound flight
  • Escorting individuals who have voluntarily withdrawn their application to enter Canada to their outbound flight and confirm departure.
  • Transporting individuals between terminals, airline counters for check-in, baggage examination when required.
  • Retrieving incoming calls on the video reception phone and properly advise the CBSA on-duty Superintendent
  • Completing the COD package for non-detained individuals, including making a copy of the individual\xe2\x80\x99s boarding pass and having them sign their COD;
  • Booking flights and checking in individuals who have been deemed inadmissible to Canada
Skill Requirements:
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written. Fluency in French is an asset
  • Excellent communication, customer service and people skills
  • Previous experience in the security industry or law enforcement
  • Strong computer skills
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment
  • Ability to stand on foot and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to work with high profile clients

  • Contract Security Program (CSP) Reliability Status
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Alberta Security Guard licence
  • Full Class 5 Drivers license with clean drivers abstract
  • First Aid and PR Training with Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Over 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residence
