We are looking for a Cashier to join our team in a part-time, casual capacity. If you are a motivated individual that works well in a team environment and would like to work a 1-3 shifts a week, we want to hear from you!
The Cashier is responsible for all point-of-sale functions including processing transactions and returns (cash, credit card, debit card), answering the phone, using retail software, keeping an accurate record of all cash, in-house charge, and credit card transactions (debit, gift card etc.), reconciling the daily record of sales with cash and credit information and making sure they balance, and performing various other services for customers, such as providing information, confirming prices, all done in a prompt and friendly manner.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greet customers as they enter the store, and assist customers who need advice, information, or directions.
Verbally communicate with customers, management, and staff both in-person and by telephone.
Ensure customers have a positive shopping experience.
Operate all point of sale equipment, including cash register with sufficient speed and accuracy. Follow proper procedures according to store policy regarding returns and refunds.
Answer phone in prompt fashion and take messages as needed.
Be familiar with price information (flyers, in-store promotions etc.) for reference when customer price inquires arise.
Be familiar with front store and yard inventory, including product location, use, and operation.
Maintain check-out area and merchandise displays.
Keep store tidy, cleaning the store and check-out area throughout your shift.
Tabulate sales at the end of the day and remove cash from register in accordance with store policy.
Water and maintain indoor houseplants and outdoor garden plants.
Work on special projects as assigned by head cashier or management.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Fluent English required.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed. Availability on weekends is a must.
Cashier, retail, or customer service experience an asset.
Friendly and helpful attitude.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere.
Interest or knowledge of DIY projects, gardening, or building materials an asset.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to stand for the duration of your shift (4-8 hours).
SCHEDULING: This role will primarily be composed of evening and weekend shifts, perfect for a student! All shifts are considered day shifts as we are only open until 5/5:30PM everyday.

Pay: From $17.85 per hour
Expected hours: 4 - 16 per week
