We are seeking a passionate and hardworking individual to join our team as a part-time barista / all-rounder at our chef-owned and operated cafe. This role is for 2-4 days a week, (including one weekend day), in a dynamic environment where everything is crafted in-house with care. Our chef brings a wealth of experience, having graduated from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver and honed his skills alongside some of Europe's top Michelin-starred chefs in Italy and The Netherlands.
Responsibilities:
Preparing espresso-based drinks, teas, and other specialty beverages (training provided if no prior barista experience)
Assisting with food preparation, including assembling sandwiches and pastries.
Supporting in-house production of items such as baked goods and ice cream when required.
Delivering excellent customer service and engaging with guests at the counter
Maintaining a clean, organized workspace and assisting with general cafe upkeep
What We're Looking For:
A reliable team player with a strong work ethic and good communication skills. Must be able to speak and understand English clearly
Availability to work on Thursdays and one weekend day (non-negotiable)
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while staying focused on efficiency and quality
Enthusiasm for coffee, food, and hospitality, with a willingness to learn new skills
If you're excited to work in a creative, hands-on cafe and connect with customers in a welcoming environment, we'd love to hear from you! No barista experience is necessary--just bring your passion and dedication.
Please note that while we appreciate the effort by all those that apply, we will only reach out to those that we feel have a strong match for the job posting.
This role involves primarily front-of-house (customer service, making drinks) and secondarily back-of-house (kitchen prep, organization). Are you comfortable doing both?
Our cafe is chef-owned, and everything is made in-house (bread, pastries, ice cream, etc.). What excites you most about working in this type of environment?
Do you have reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for your shifts? Please describe your typical commute.
When you notice something in a cafe or kitchen is disorganized (like prep not labeled, supplies not stocked, or counters messy), what do you do?
What's one thing you think makes a cafe experience memorable for a customer? What do you think great customer service looks like in a cafe?
Are you available to work Thursdays and one weekend day? Please explain your weekly availability in detail.
Do you have barista or kitchen experience? If yes, please tell us where you worked, your role, and how long you were there.
