Job Summary & Key Responsibilities


PUAD 5250 - Strategic Financial Management
Winter Academic Term - January to April 2026



Exploring issues at all orders of government, the course will review concepts of financial planning, public sector accounting, fiscal management, budgeting and accountability. It will place finance, budgeting and economic concepts within a holistic strategic management context. This includes the role and scope of government in fiscal management, the adaptation of economic concepts and measurement and outline activities included in financial management. A review of public sector accounting will develop an understanding of the assumptions and principles of accounting and the role it plays in strategic financial management.



Work Assignment:
The Sessional Instructor will be responsible for a half credit course in the area of Strategic Financial Management (PUAD 5250). PUAD 5250 is held on Mondays from 1735 - 2025 with a tutorial on Wednesdays from 1735 - 2025 during the Winter Academic Term. The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of the teaching and administration of the class and be available for two hours per week outside class times for student consultations. There may be additional course-related administration following the end of the course.


Qualifications/Requirements of Position


A Master's Degree in a related field, recent or current experience at the executive level within government departments (with experience in Strategic Financial Management), and demonstrated effectives teaching at the Master's level in Strategic Financial Management or a related field are required. A Ph.D. in the area of Public Administration, and accounting experience or an accounting designation are an asset.


Salary Range/Pay Rate

$6,478 per course (In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement)
