Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
.This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for the teaching and grading of THEA PERF 3830.03 Dance and Movement Composition from January 1 to April 30, 2024 (Winter Term). This course is a requirement for students enrolled in the Dance & Movement Certificate program. Dance composition is the art of designing and creating a dance. Emphasis is placed on the practical application of dance techniques to create and choreograph performance pieces, exploring the structure of ideas and exercises focusing on time, space, and energy.
The instructor is required to provide a Method of Assessment as well as prepare and grade all assignments to calculate final marks in time for student interviews that take place at the end of each term. Final marks must then be submitted online. This position works in collaboration with the Dance instructor and reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree, including the following qualifications are required for this position:
(1) substantial experience and specialization in a form of movement considered valuable for actors (especially movement for the stage);
(2) ability to instruct students with diverse dance-training backgrounds, new movers, and broad levels of musicality, dexterity, and coordination;
(3) teaching experience at the post-secondary level;
(4) evidence of strong teaching effectiveness.
