Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging learn to skate and hockey programing for children aged 5 to grade 8 (12 or 13 years of age) in high-priority neighbourhoods across the City of Hamilton
Act as the primary contact for recruiting and scheduling volunteers to support on-ice members, as well as communication with community partners
Demonstrate the use of positive behaviour guidance, and support staff and volunteers with behaviour guidance techniques, best practices, and on-the-spot mentorship and feedback
Ability to work independently and demonstrate strong leadership skills
Maintain professional and respectful relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, parents/guardians, City of Hamilton staff, and community members
Create a welcoming environment for children that encourages participation
Ensure program health and safety protocols are followed
Follow all guidelines, policies and procedures as set out by BGC Hamilton-Halton

A belief in equity, opportunity, and the potential of every child
Strong skating skills and hockey knowledge with the ability to instruct
Diploma/degree or is currently enrolled in a post-secondary program studying recreation or leisure services, sports management, child and youth care, social work, psychology, sociology, or kinesiology with a focus/experience working with children ages 6-12 years
Availability to work Saturday mornings, and occasionally throughout the week
High Five Sport and High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development is an asset
Valid G license
A clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Valid First Aid/CPR-Level C (Red Cross preferred)
