Our work:

Parks Canada \xe2\x80\x93 Western Arctic Field Unit is looking for a positive energetic person seeking new challenges to join our management team to support cooperative management and maintain key organizational and individual relationships in De\xcc\x81l\xc4\xb1\xcc\xa8ne\xcc\xa8.

As the Site Manager, you will work closely and collaboratively with the member organizations of the Saoy\xc3\xba-\xc9\x81ehdacho\xcc\xa8 National Historic Site Management Board, with Parks Canada colleagues, and a variety of other individuals and organizations.

Your work will also include management, coordination, and delivery of on site and in community programs and services in a variety of fields that may include outreach, visitor experience, asset management, heritage conservation among others.

  • You have knowledge of De\xcc\x81l\xc4\xb1\xcc\xa8ne\xcc\xa8 Got\xe2\x80\x99i\xcc\xa8ne\xcc\xa8 dialect and are able to speak and write in English well.

Intent of the process


This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic (profiles OR requirements) in same or other parts of the country.

Appointment in a developmental capacity may be considered if there are no qualified candidates available for appointment.

Education:
  • Graduated with a degree from a recognized university or provide details on how you have an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Experience
  • Experience in managing projects;
  • Experience in teaching, leading, coaching, supervising, or mentoring others;
  • Experience in managing a budget;
  • Experience in the fields of education, tourism, resource conservation, asset management and/or communications; and
  • Experience in working with and/or participating in boards, working groups, councils or other types of diverse multi-party decision making groups.

Knowledge:
  • General knowledge of: cooperative management principles and practices under modern land claims, the Saht\xc3\xba Dene and Metis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement, and the Saoy\xc3\xba and \xc9\x81ehdacho National Historic Site of Canada Protected Area and Cooperative Management Agreement; and
  • General knowledge of Saoy\xc3\xba-\xc9\x81ehdacho National Historic Site, De\xcc\x81l\xc4\xb1\xcc\xa8ne\xcc\xa8, and the surrounding Saht\xc3\xba lands and communities.
  • Knowledge of or fluency in the De\xcc\x81l\xc4\xb1\xcc\xa8ne\xcc\xa8 Got\xe2\x80\x99i\xcc\xa8ne\xcc\xa8 dialect. (ADDITIONAL / NON-ESSENTIAL qualification)

Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in a manner appropriate to an identified target audience.
  • Ability to build relationships and represent the organization in a variety of forums.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to inter-organizational and/or interpersonal conflict.
  • Ability to manage various types of projects relevant to remote northern communities and cooperatively managed protected areas.

Operational Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work in both office and field environments under a variety of Arctic conditions.

  • Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance.
  • Possession of a valid drivers\xe2\x80\x99 licence.
