Position Summary:
Reporting presently to the Director, Campus Public Safety, the Parking & Transportation Supervisor is responsible for providing a high level of organizational & leadership skills to the Parking & Transportation Services unit. The Supervisor will promote and maintain a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors to campus facilities, in conformity with applicable laws, regulations and codes. They will troubleshoot, assess, and resolve problems using specialized skills and technical knowledge. The Supervisor will provide advice to unit members on problem resolution and will develop and implement procedures and/or controls to enhance the operation of the unit and will participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives that support the strategic direction of the department/unit by keeping abreast of new developments and trends in the fields of parking and transportation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all day-to-day parking activities on the Downtown campus and develops & implements procedures and controls to enhance the operations of the unit.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and new initiatives that support the strategic direction of Parking and Transportation Services.
  • In collaboration with Project Managers and site supervisors, participates in the prioritization of site planning for major construction projects.
  • Oversees and manages customer related queries.
  • Oversees the various parking and transportation communiques sent to the university community.
  • In collaboration with the Special Events Planning team, participates in the prioritization regarding major events site plans. This can include working directly with the transporation coordinator of film crews to place trailers, generators, arrange shuttle stops and access for caterers.
  • Responsible for the budget preparations of the unit. Control operational and administrative expenses such as materials and supplies ensuring budget targets are met and allocates funds for major repairs, vehicle replacements, makes recommendations regarding parking space allocations and annual rate increases.
  • Audits invoices, prepares journals to correct errors, uploads batches, responsible for Y/E accrual journals. Produces monthly revenue reports and reconciles to crystal reports. Compares actuals to budget, analyses discrepancies for financial reporting.
  • Plans and prioritizes work assignments to maximize use of available human and material resources, in accordance with budget constraints, cost and quality standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring PCI Security protocols are maintained for unmanned parking equipment.
  • Provides technical expertise for parking computer hardware and software. Troubleshoots, assesses and resolves problems. Ensures maintenance and repairs are done to all parking equipment.
  • Responsible for ensuring that normal maintenance is done on parking sites, this includes preventative maintenance, drain cleaning, painting, sign replacement, monthly cleaning, floor sealing etc.
  • Responsible to ensure to advise Facilities when more extensive repairs must be done and will follow up with Project Managers, Sector Supervisors and Engineers.
  • Responsbile for ensuring that preventative maintenance and timely repairs are done on Security Access Bollards.
  • Works in collaboration with Procurement Services regarding various contracts (i.e., contracted personnel, equipment)
  • Acts as on-site liaison with systems providers regarding systems problems and maintenance
  • Acts as the McGill Vehicle Fleet manager, responsible for the operational management of McGill's 140 vehicles and ensuring that McGill's Asset Management system for fleet vehicles is maintained and updated.
  • In collaboration with the university's Office of Sustainability and Procurement Services, works to increase the number of electric vehicles in the McGill fleet.
  • Responsible for the operational management of McGill's installed EV charging stations.
  • In collaboration with Sustainability and Utility management works to recommend additonal locations for EV chargers.
  • Oversees cash collection, vault control and pick-up.
  • Supervises, manages, coaches & motivates direct reports as well as outsourced parking personnel.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, work both autonomously and as part of a team and deliver a high volume of superior quality work. Experience in parking and transportation management is an asset. Experience in budget management is an asset. Proven organizational and leadership skills with the ability to set priorities and multi-task to meet deadlines. Strong Customer Focused. Ability to work simultaneously on a range of projects requiring different skills and resources. Proven experience working independently, with minimal guidance. Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability and competence to work in a PC environment. Strong writing, presentation, and project planning skills. Excellent written and communication skills in both English and French.

Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree 3 Years Related Experience with Bachelor's Degree / DEC III 5 Years Related Experience with DEC III

Annual Salary: (MPEX Grade 04) $58,470.00 - $73,090.00 - $87,710.00
