The Public Safety Department - Bylaw Services, is looking for two regular full-time Parking Bylaw Enforcement Officers to join their team for approximately two years.
Responsibilities
In this position, you will be responsible for regulatory and enforcement work to ensure compliance with City Parking Regulations and Bylaws. Specifically, you will perform patrols by License Plate Recognition vehicle or on foot and will enforce City Parking Bylaws on assigned City streets, lanes and parking lots; investigate complaints relative to parking; submit prosecution reports for the adjudication process; serve letters, notices and orders to property owners; respond to other bylaw issues as required (e.g. sprinkling, water restrictions) and prepare and maintain records related to the work.
Requirements
The successful applicant must have experience in regulatory or enforcement work, a good knowledge of the bylaws and regulations related to traffic and parking, and of the City's geographical areas and a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License. The demonstrated ability to work with minimal direction and to self-initiate work, proven interpersonal skills to deal tactfully and firmly with the public, report writing skills, and the physical ability to perform tasks associated with parking patrols are also required.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
Compensation
$30.70 - $36.08 per hour
(Pay Grade 16 - January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
Four (4) consecutive days of work; ten (10) hours per day (exclusive of an unpaid meal period of 60 minutes) between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week.
Additional Information
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
