SUMMARY




Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Park & Banquet Manager will manage the daily operations and oversee Chiefswood Park and the Gathering Place by the Grand in the Six Nations of the Grand River Community. The candidate must possess exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, communication and organizational skills. The Park and Banquet Manager will work within the policies and procedures established by the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Strategic Leadership & Planning




Provides overall strategic direction for Chiefswood Park and the Gathering Place by the Grand, ensuring alignment with the organization's vision, growth strategy, and community values.


Collaborates cross-departmentally to ensure operational plans and resources effectively support growth, sustainability, and visitor satisfaction.


Develops and implements short- and long-term operational strategies to meet revenue, occupancy, and customer satisfaction targets.


Partners with community stakeholders, tourism organizations, and local businesses to expand park offerings, increase visibility, and strengthen community engagement.


Leads policy and process improvements to enhance efficiency, customer service, and alignment with organizational goals.

Operations & Process Management



Oversees daily operations, maintenance, and service delivery at both sites to ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment. Analyzes and improves operational systems, including software and processes, to streamline workflows, increase capacity, and enhance customer experience. Develops clear operational frameworks that outline supported offerings, booking procedures, and event capabilities. Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, AODA accessibility standards, and all relevant policies and procedures. Provides accurate, timely reporting to meet internal deadlines and organizational requirements.

Financial & Resource Management

Manages and monitors operational budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and financial accountability. Accurately forecasts labor requirements and allocates staff and resources to optimize operations and service delivery. Coordinates with the Finance Department to support cross-departmental budgeting, reporting, and financial planning.

Team Leadership & Development

Supervises, mentors, and supports all park and GPG staff, including Guest Experience, CSR, and seasonal employees. Oversees recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and training to ensure high-performing and engaged teams. Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Operations to develop and deliver operational training programs. Establishes and tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for staff on a weekly and monthly basis, providing feedback and accountability. Promotes a culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement.

Customer Experience & Program Development

Works closely with the Sales and Marketing team to increase group bookings, special events, and seasonal programming. Develops and maintains an annual calendar of offerings that align with community and customer interests and organizational goals. Partners with Food Services to provide insights and feedback to enhance catering and event offerings. Seeks and implements innovative solutions to improve guest satisfaction, accessibility, and overall experience.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE




Minimum Requirements:

Successful completion of post-secondary education in the travel and tourism, event management, business administration, management studies or similar program and two (2) years of management experience.

OR

Secondary School Graduate (Grade 12) plus five (5) years of Management experience. Computer skills and knowledge of software such as: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, POS, or other relevant programs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Maintain confidentiality; ability to handle the public with tact and discretion with a pleasing personality. Must exhibit a high degree of initiative to work independently and have the ability to organize the workload so all deadlines are met. Must possess valid driver's license. Excellent customer service skill. Must have a pleasant attitude and disposition for working with the staff and public. Willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends and holidays. Must pass a police record check. Willingness to learn, accept change, and adapt to new ideas, business concepts, and cultures.

Error in judgement may lead to loss of credibility, poor public relations, public confidence, and misinformation resulting in embarrassment and potential liability to the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation.

This position requires normal physical effort. This position requires normal visual/sensory effort. This position typically operates in a generally agreeable work environment; outdoor work may be required Working conditions has a high public relations profile with local and outside communities.
