COMMUNITY LEGAL SERVICES OF OTTAWA



Community Legal Services of Ottawa / Services juridiques communautaires d'Ottawa is a community legal clinic, funded by Legal Aid Ontario. We provide legal services for the low-income residents of Ottawa, as well as community development, law reform and legal education initiatives.

We are seeking a paralegal for a permanent position. The successful candidate will represent clients in income support matters including public benefits and workers' compensation cases and will collaborate on community-based legal initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

Provide legal advice and represent clients primarily in income support matters

Provide legal advice in housing law

Provide duty counsel services for tenants at the Landlord and Tenant Board

Work closely with staff teams

Work closely with inter-clinic groups on matters pertaining to income support matters

Participate in law reform matters, public presentations, lobbying, policy advocacy and media work

Collaborate with partner organizations on community initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

Paralegal with Law Society of Ontario license in good standing

Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable individuals

Experience working on income support and WSIB matters is an asset

Community development experience

Capacity to work in French is a strong asset.

Demonstrated commitment to social justice and working for change for vulnerable and marginalized groups

Excellent oral and written advocacy skills

Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively

Strong ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume environment

Excellent organizational and practice management skills

The salary range is $63,000 to $65,000 commensurate with training and experience.

Nous fournissons des services juridiques pour les residents a faible revenu d'Ottawa ainsi que des initiatives de developpement communautaires, de reforme du droit, et d'education juridique.

Nous recherchons une parajuriste pour un poste permanent. Le/La candidate retenue representera nos clients dans des dossiers de prestations de revenu et d'indemnisation des accidentes du travail et collaborera sur des initiatives juridiques communautaires.

Responsabilites

Fournir des conseils juridiques et representer des clients principalement dans des dossiers de prestations de revenu

Fournir des conseils juridiques en matiere de droit du logement

Comparaitre a la Commission de la location immobiliere en tant qu'avocat de service pour les locataires

Travailler en etroite collaboration avec nos differentes equipes

Participer aux initiatives de reforme du droit, presentations publiques, lobbying et travail mediatique

Participer a des initiatives communautaires avec nos organisations partenaires

Qualifications et experience

Parajuriste en regle du Barreau de l'Ontario

Experience averee de travail aupres de personnes vulnerables

Experience dans des dossiers de prestation de revenu ou d'indemnisation des accidentes du travail est un atout

Experience en developpement communautaire

La capacite de travailler en francais est un atout majeur

Engagement manifeste a oeuvrer pour la justice sociale et les groupes vulnerables et marginalises

Excellentes competences en plaidoirie orale et ecrite

Competences interpersonnelles et capacite demontree de travailler en equipe

Forte capacite a gerer plusieurs priorites dans un environnement avec un volume de travail eleve

Excellentes competences en matiere d'organisation et de gestion de dossiers

Date limite pour postuler: le 2 janvier 2026 a 17 h. Date prevue d'entree en fonction : fevrier 2026
Le salaire est de $65,000 a $69,000 et est proportionnel a la formation et l'experience.
